a) Produce vendors- You must grow a portion of the produce you are selling, but can be supplemented with local produce. We must receive a copy of your grower's license. We define local as Florida or southern Georgia. (No resellers) It is required that you post the name of your farm, prices of all items, and how it is grown (organic, pesticide free, conventional…). No occupational license is needed in the state of Florida. If selling by weight, your scales must be inspected by the Dept. of Agriculture. Growers are subject to field inspections to verify the source of produce offered for sale. New farms will likely be visited prior to acceptance.
b) Plant Vendors – If plants are sold in dirt, you will need a nursery license (certificate of inspection by Dept. of Agriculture, entry level fee $25). It is required you have a tax ID# and are collecting sales tax. If they are edible plants, this is not required. Priority goes to edible/organic/native plants.
c) Processed Food/Value Added Products- Must have a food permit, which requires inspection of the certified kitchen in use. Please contact the Duval County Extension office is you need further information. It is required you have a tax ID# and are collecting sales tax. Food vendors must offer healthy, local, or organic food options.
d) Crafts- It is required that you have a tax ID# and are collecting sales tax. Crafts must be homemade by local community members, and it is preferred if they fit into the theme of environmentally or socially friendly, or be unique and relevant to the green market goals. Submit two photographs of your work to the Advisory Council. The council will decide as quickly as possible. Craft vendors should provide the answers to these questions: Where does the product and/or its parts come from? How are they made? Who makes them?
e) Other Products- It is required you have a tax ID# and are collecting sales tax. Other vendors must be selling environmentally or socially conscious wares that are relevant to the Green Market goals. Subject to jury by Advisory Council. Any commercial merchandise must be essential to a green lifestyle and not otherwise available locally.
*Note that there are some vendors who have been with the Green Market from the beginning, and hence are not subject to the more limited restrictions that have come about since that time. These vendors were accepted prior to the need for such restraints and have been reliable and supportive throughout the life of the Market.
